Splurge or Save Styling: Fanny Crown Dress

Recently I have become obsessed with buying clothes online (probably very late to the party, I know.)  There are so many bargains to be found in online stores and I love that there are so many items that you just won’t find on the rack.  Buying a new party dress from an online boutique makes you stand-out in the crowd as most people won’t automatically recognise which store your gorgeous new outfit is from.

Fanny Crown is an online store that specialises in truly gorgeous evening wear.  From cocktail dresses to statement evening gowns, they have something for every occasion!  Fanny Crown even stocks a range of Debutante and Wedding dresses.  They stock Australian sizes 4 – 30 so any woman can look incredible in Fanny Crown!  Unlike lots of other stores, Fanny Crown even offer to tailor make your dress for a small additional fee.  By selecting this option you are able to select the colour of your dress and enter your measurements to ensure the perfect fit.  Piece of mind is important to me when shopping online so I was thrilled to see that Fanny Crown offers a variety of secure payment methods and ships worldwide.

Amy from Fanny Crown asked me to style my favourite dress from their site as part of their Monthly Blogger Contest.  If I win, I get the dress for free and you, my lovely readers, are winners regardless because if you want to treat yourself to a piece of Fanny Crown glamour, just enter MSTHISNTHAT14 at checkout for 15% off your order!  This coupon code is valid from now until 2nd August 2014 so get shopping at www.fannycrown.com.

It was tough decision to pick a favourite, but I decided to style the Cute Balloon Asymmetric Party Dress in a classic Navy/Teal colour.  I love this dress because it’s a pretty, classic style which is very wearable.  The sexy, fitted one shoulder bodice shows just enough skin and the flirty bubble skirt makes it a playful look.  The floral detail on the shoulder and the ruffles on the skirt add just the right amount of femininity to the look without being too cutesy.  The cut of the dress looks very flattering and would create a classic hourglass figure for any woman.  At $223.50 AUD, the price is great too.

I instantly knew I wanted to style this dress with classic black and gold accessories.  As it is winter here in Australia, a girl can’t go out on the town without a fabulous coat so I decided to add a long coat as well.  There’s something about a slick long coat that makes me feel like a sophisticated movie star and who doesn’t love giving their new dress a grand unveiling when they arrive at an event? I decided to style the dress is two ways: on a luxurious budget and on a tight one.  As my regular readers know, I am a big believer in getting the look for less and it was lots of fun to search for  budget items that created the same glamorous look as the high-end ones! So here’s what I came-up with!

Which look was better?

As fun as it was to pretend I could shop without a budget, I have to say that I think the low budget look was just as sleek.  I am the sort of shopper who would prefer to invest in the occasional designer piece and cut costs by purchasing costume jewellery or a synthetic bag.  The great part of buying an affordable dress online from a store such as Fanny Crown is that the styling possibilities are endless!  You’ll look amazing whatever your budget!
